Mirror-Work Chaniya Choli & Dupatta — Crimson & Ivory
Rs. 185
A piece made for movement — where bold crimson, intricate mirror work and a sweeping paisley hem reveal themselves with every turn.
The choli begins in rich crimson, contrasted beautifully by soft sage-green sleeves. Across the yoke, a peacock emerges in dense multicolour threadwork — an intricate focal point that brings traditional folk artistry right to the centre of the piece.
Rather than individual panels, the skirt is built in striking bands of colour. Crimson gives way to black scattered with mirror work, followed by ivory, creating distinct rings that become especially dramatic as the skirt moves and turns.
And then comes the detail worth lingering over: the wide ivory bottom tier. Filled with oversized paisleys outlined and worked in vibrant thread, it brings together the colours from above before finishing in a softly scalloped edge. Seen standing, it is beautiful; spread out while seated, the scale and craftsmanship of the border really come into their own.
The crimson dupatta completes the ensemble, scattered with delicate gold booti and finished with an embroidered border and tassels. Draped loosely or allowed to flow, it adds another layer of colour and movement without competing with the skirt.
A wonderfully expressive piece — peacock motifs above, paisleys below, mirrors in between, and crimson running through it all.
